Today, while standing in the checkout line at Walmart I learned something. The lady in front of me began complaining to the cashier that the cashiers in Walmart are “as slow as molasses and I will file a complaint”. Mind you, the cashier was an old woman well above her 70’s and was working the night shift. She was completely disheartened by the comment and just said a sarcastic thank you. My turn came and I told the cashier that I didn’t blame any of the workers for being slow because they must be tired from the long shifts. Soon enough, we were having a conversation and she was telling me about a man helping her take out all the negativity in her life. I laughed and said I’d like to get some tips as well. She cupped her hands in a prayer position and looked up, saying that that’s all you gotta do. Before I left she quietly whispered, “You know, the man whose teaching me is Muslim; it’s wonderful what you guys do.” I left the store wondering, how could I have pondered over what a good stress reliever is when it was it front of me all this time? All I had to do was put my hands up and pray.
